The History of Coach K as a Coach

Born on February 13, 1947, Michael William Kryzewski aka Coach K was surprisingly selected to coach Duke in 1980. Unfortunately for Coach K he had a shaky start with no recruits in his first year earning him a losing record. Coach K’s resume is nothing like you have ever seen before. Coach K is a five – time NCAA Tournament Winner with an outstanding overall record of 1,155 – 349. Also, Coach K is a three time Naismith coach of the year, 13 time ACC Champion, five time ACC coach of the year, college basketball hall of fame inductee and an United States Olympic Hall of Fame inductee are just a few of the outstanding accomplishments Coach K has earned over the years. In terms of the olympics, he is also quite accomplished, Coach K is a five – time gold medalist as a head coach for the men’s team.  His winning style has continued this year with Duke, they’re second in the conference with a 25-6 overall record.

His success throughout his coaching career undoubtedly follows him in life. He has a winning and inspiring attitude that transfers to his work in the community.
